Work with me

THERAPY

I combine evidence-based interventions to help you change. My approach includes working from cognitive-behavioural, emotion-focused, acceptance and commitment, mindfulness, and psychodynamic models of therapy. I use attachment theory to understand the core needs and longings that you have, and how you understand yourself and others. I offer psychological service both in person and by telepsychotherapy (therapy over a secure video platform). In our initial appointment, we will work to identify your goals for therapy and my recommendations.

Psychological Assessments & Diagnosis

I provide comprehensive psychological assessments and mental health diagnoses to better understand your mental health.

Some of the reasons clients seek a psychological assessment are for confirmation of a mental health diagnosis, increased understanding of psychological or psychiatric symptoms, collaboration with other healthcare providers, and development of a treatment plan.

Individual Therapy

I work with people who are experiencing difficulties in their relationships, coping with emotions (e.g., low mood, anxiety and worry, stress, grief and loss), with how they feel about themselves (e.g., self-esteem issues, adjustment to major life changes), and coping with interpersonal and personality-related problems. I also work with people who are coping with an acute or chronic illness, including cancer, diabetes, HIV, and chronic pain.

While I work with individuals with a variety of presentations, my specialization is with women and mothers.

Couples Therapy

Some couples work with me for difficulties with communication or connecting on an emotional and intimate level, while others are unable to agree upon or discuss important and difficult topics (e.g., parenting, family issues, finances).

Other couples might be experiencing a high level of distress and dissatisfaction in their relationship, and some couples see me when a significant event has impacted their relationship (e.g., infidelity, an illness, a loss). In couples therapy I also work on issues related to sex and intimacy (e.g., low desire, sexual dysfunction).

Couples also choose to seek my services for premarital counselling or preparing for a big life change, like welcoming a baby to the family. Through our sessions, we work collaboratively to understand key aspects of you and your partner, and the potential challenges that may arise in your union. I also provide tools to help improve communication and work through conflict.
