This is the Instagram post that immediately drew me to want to meet Erica from Mom.Break.
So many women struggle postpartum (and perinatal, I will add) – even if they don’t meet diagnostic criteria for postpartum depression or postpartum anxiety. But they often struggle alone. Erica’s message was strong – we all struggle – but we shouldn’t struggle in silence or isolation.
So when Erica proposed to meet (we both live in Ottawa), I was pumped! And she was so real. I knew I wanted to share her story with others.
In this episode, Erica and I talk about her experience with postpartum depression and her decision to go to therapy. We talk about the realness of motherhood – the intrusive thoughts, the difficulties coping with motherhood, and the toddler tantrums. Tune in to hear Erica’s journey of acknowledging when she needed to seek help, and how she told others about her therapy experience.
