Postpartum depression and anxiety…the things that most moms don’t talk about…⠀ .⠀ Why?⠀ .⠀ – Maybe because they’re ashamed⠀ – Maybe because they THINK they should “have it all together”⠀ – Maybe because they don’t realize they have it?⠀ – Maybe because they aren’t capable of taking about it⠀ – Maybe because they don’t know how⠀ – Maybe because they think they’re the only ones…⠀ .⠀ I made this video a year after I suffered from PPD/PPA with my toddler Aubrey.⠀ .⠀ But it’s now more relevant than ever because I’m 4 months postpartum with kiddo #2 and some of those pesky PPA symptoms are popping back into my life.⠀ .⠀ So, I thought it was a great time to re-share this video (LINK IN PROFILE TO FULL VIDEO).⠀ .⠀ I’ll leave it was this…⠀ .⠀ If this is your first kiddo or first time feeling anxiety, sad, or angry…you’re in the majority…most people just don’t talk about it.⠀ .⠀ We just all struggle in different ways and at different levels 💕💕 You’re NOT the only one and it’s TOTALLY OK to feel those feelings.

So many women struggle postpartum (and perinatal, I will add) – even if they don’t meet diagnostic criteria for postpartum depression or postpartum anxiety. But they often struggle alone. Erica’s message was strong – we all struggle – but we shouldn’t struggle in silence or isolation.
So when Erica proposed to meet (we both live in Ottawa), I was pumped! And she was so real. I knew I wanted to share her story with others.
In this episode, Erica and I talk about her experience with postpartum depression and her decision to go to therapy. We talk about the realness of motherhood – the intrusive thoughts, the difficulties coping with motherhood, and the toddler tantrums.
